I met LaChoi's new boyfriend today. They seem like a good match, considering that they've been official for two months.
I saw a piece of Hongdae today while LaChoi, her boyfriend, and I ran around to get some errands done. We couldn't open a bank account yet because most banks require that I have a foreigner's ID card, which I don't have as of yet. We did find one bank that doesn't require that, but instead requires a contractor/cosigner/guarantor or something to that effect. We decided to wait until LaChoi's mom gets back from her trip and she'll help out with that.
But. I did manage to get a phone with a Korean number today! Whoo. And yes, it's an Anycall phone, lol. It does seem like an older model, but it was the cheapest deal. I don't mind. I just want to at least have a way to contact people. LaChoi has helped me a lot today, despite that I've arrived at a somewhat inconvenient time for her. I'm grateful for her help, even though I somehow ended up to stay two nights at a guesthouse in Hongdae.
Long story short, it takes an hour to get from LaChoi's abode to Hongdae, and because she wants to spend her last week and days here with the boyfriend, I can't be sticking with her all the time. A guesthouse is like a hostel and a hotel combined, but really cheap. I don't mind too much, it is only about forty dollars total for two nights. Really cheap.
I view it as an opportunity to explore Hongdae further while I can. Apparently, there is this Seoul Fringe Festival going on for another week, and it's in front of Hongik University. I can definitely spare some time to get lost further, buy some clothes on the way, learn my way around. I'm definitely not that efficient in Korean yet, but I will be. Speaking of which, it's not a bad idea to review some grammar and vocab before turning in tonight.
EDIT: Note to self; When staying in a room with a handful of French visitors, do not assume the food in the kitchen is provided by the host. And Korean-French people do exist O_O
