Fantasy Illustration Bootcamp 2016 - Thumbnails

Hi Erik,

I am going with Option 1, "Let it Snow!"

Here's what I've come up with so far. I drew several compositional thumbs to get an idea of how I want to design everything. I am based in Utah, so there are plenty of references of snowy mountains for me to grab photos of before the workshop.

Below is my final ish comp and rough value study that I'd like feedback on. I'm still trying to figure out how I want the dragon to exactly look, but I'm leaning towards a Leviathan/ice dragon type.

Initially for the female dragon hunter's animal companion, I was looking up a type of fox/wolf chimera type hybrid, but found that there is actually an animal called a dhole, that is literally basically a "red wolf with a fox face." What I'm going for here is a larger version of that with three tails, to imply a kitsune kind of creature.

I look forward to the feedback. Thank you!

Hi Mariam, Good start! I personally would move the camera to the left so that they are coming at the camera a little more. Also, try to group your values a little more. Think in terms of silhouette and depth, not so much in terms of form this early. This post may help a little http://deadoftheday.blogspot.com/2011/07/step-x-step-necropolis.html
